Technical Site Visits across the States of Bahia and Ceará, Brazil
Mitigating operational risk in real agro-industrial assets does not begin during the construction phase or upon signing financing agreements; it starts at the primary source of the biological asset. As part of our structuring strategy for large-scale agro-industrial platforms in Northern Colombia, Rebalance75 recently executed a comprehensive technical mission across the states of Bahia and Ceará, Brazil. The central objective of the agenda, which was led and organized by our operating and agro-industrial partner, Gremca, was to conduct in-situ due diligence across the genetic, production, and processing value chains. During the visit, we reviewed high-productivity agronomic models, precision irrigation and fertigation systems, and industrial bio-refining protocols, all validated by the Federal University of Viçosa (UFV), which conducted technical feasibility studies for the development of Project Zenith in Colombia.
Genetic Audit at Origin: Selection & Traceability
In the development of high-yield coconut cultivation platforms, the selection of plant material dictates the production curve for the subsequent 30 years. During our inspection of genetic nurseries and propagation centers in Bahia and Ceará, we visited elite variety breeding blocks to ensure:
Varietal Purity & Adaptability: Evaluation of physiological performance in areas with edaphoclimatic conditions analogous to the Colombian Caribbean Coast.
Resilience & Phytosanitary Suitability: Verification of propagation protocols and inspection of tolerance to water stress and regional pests.
Yield Potential: Confirmation of theoretical productivity curves by evaluating key quality parameters.
Technology Transfer: Fertigation & Precision Agriculture
The operational success of an agricultural asset lies in de-risking climate exposure. Visiting industrial-scale, high-productivity plantations in Ceará allowed us to assess the real-world impact of automation on nutritional and irrigation management. Through climate-adjusted, automated fertigation modeling, these platforms effectively neutralize seasonal water deficits, guaranteeing consistent year-round harvest volumes. The direct transfer of these fertigation algorithms and planting architectures to our developments in Colombia provides a structural competitive advantage that optimizes operating expenditure (OPEX) and accelerates entry into the productive phase.
Circular Bio-Refining & Zero-Waste Industrial Model
Prospecting in Brazil extended beyond the field. We visited industrial processing complexes to audit the post-harvest transformation chain. Our vision for agro-industrial platforms goes beyond selling unprocessed raw materials. We design assets with in-situ bio-refining capacity, where every component of the fruit is transformed into high-value commercial derivatives:
Natural beverages and high-purity extracts.
Refined oils for industrial and cosmetic applications.
Energy biomass and activated carbon derived from lignocellulosic residues.
Adopting this circular approach not only maximizes value capture per hectare, but also aligns the platforms with the most demanding global ESG and sustainability investment metrics.
The execution of this agenda in Bahia and Ceará reinforces Rebalance75’s commitment to a proactive management model. As bio-infrastructure structurers and asset managers in Colombia, we ensure the international bankability of our projects through direct field presence, backing from cutting-edge academic research, and the integration of global operational best practices. Transferring this biotechnology and agronomic expertise from leading producing countries to Colombia lays the foundation for scaling competitive, efficient agro-industrial platforms aligned with the highest standards of institutional capital allocation.
