Biochar & Metchar

At Rebalance75, we implement various nature-based strategies to achieve long-term carbon removal. Rebalance75 is a decarbonization solutions platform. We develop production lines for biochar and Metchar—versatile and scalable tools for reducing carbon emissions.

These technologies transform organic waste and industrial byproducts into stable carbon that can be stored in soils, used as an industrial input, or replace fossil fuels—significantly contributing to CO₂ capture and net emissions reduction.

Biochar

Biochar

A form of charcoal produced from sustainable forest biomass. It is applied to soils to improve structure, enhance water and nutrient retention, and permanently sequester carbon.

  • Improves soil health

  • Boosts agricultural productivity

  • Removes carbon with high permanence (100+ years)

Metchar

Metchar

A specialized type of biochar optimized for the metallurgical industry, made from carbon-rich and forest-based residues. Designed to replace fossil coke in processes like metal smelting.

  • Lower carbon footprint in steelmaking supply chains

  • Direct contribution to industrial decarbonization

  • Full traceability and measurable carbon impact

How it works

Biochar and Metchar are produced through pyrolysis, a thermal process in which biomass is decomposed at high temperatures in the absence of oxygen. We use closed, controlled reactors that convert organic waste into stable carbon, while also generating valuable energy byproducts. This is a clean, efficient technology adaptable to different feedstocks and end uses.
